It never ends
Passion never dies. It grows
Serve, Create, Teach, and Always, Learn
Richard Hernandez is a California based songwriter, composer, conductor and pianist. His music has been featured on shows for A&E, ABC, Bravo, Discovery, Fox, MTV, Lifetime, NBC, NFL Network, Netflix, TLC, Telemundo, UFC, and The History Channel. He has composed music for all forms of media, including being one of the first to have music streamed on the internet for CBS News.
While still in college, Richard divided his time between classes and learning about the music business through his experiences at BMG, Edmonds Entertainment, and Yab Yum Entertainment. This led to seven years of licensing music for CBS Television Music Operations West Coast. In 1994, Richard met famed jazz pianist Gerald “Wig” Wiggins, who further inspired him to pursue composition and jazz.
Richard, a Gluck Fellow recipient, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from The Conservatory of Music at the University of the Pacific and a Master’s Degree in Conducting from UCLA, under the tutelage of Donald Neuen. He has received recognition and grants from Downbeat Magazine, Leni Fe Bland and The Pillsbury Foundation.
Today, Richard, a member of the Recording Academy and BMI, balances his time between composing, collaborating and mentoring. Forever a student of music with the soul of an artist, but the heart of a social worker, Richard is driven by a desire to serve, create, teach, and always, learn.
